About the Role The Public Policy & Economic Junior Manager is responsible for building economic arguments to support policy advocacies. This role entails evaluating the economic implications of existing and proposed policies relevant to the company's businesses, including ride-hailing and on-demand delivery. By utilizing empirical data, the position involves drafting comprehensive policy briefs, research reports, and position papers that articulate the company's socio-economic contributions. Additionally, the role requires working alongside internal teams and external stakeholders—such as regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and research organizations—to ensure that the company's policy positions are technically sound, evidence-based, and aligned with national regulatory frameworks.
What You Will Do: Conduct macroeconomic and microeconomic analyses, cost-benefit analyses, and economic impacts regarding current and proposed digital industry regulations (e.g. ride-hailing tariffs and commission, taxation, on demand delivery, etc). Assess the financial, operational risks, and business opportunities for the company arising from changes in government policy. Initiate, design, and execute internal research regarding the socio-economic contribution of GoTo’s ecosystem to the national economy, driver-partner welfare, and MSME (merchant) growth. Leverage large internal and external datasets to build strong, evidence-based narratives for public advocacy. Draft public research reports, whitepapers, and scientific presentation materials to support the company’s strategic communications..
What You Will Need: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Development Studies, or a highly quantitative social science field. A Master’s Degree (e.g., MSc in Economics) is highly preferred. 5 years of relevant professional experience in economic research, policy analysis, corporate affairs, or strategic consulting. Prior experience working within a tech company, economic think tank, research institute, or a regulatory body/ministry is an advantage. Exceptional ability to synthesize complex data and regulatory text into easily readable, high-quality policy briefs, whitepapers, and position papers for both executive and government audiences.
