Role OverviewWe are seeking a commercially driven Senior Business Development Manager with a minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in the Payment Service Provider (PSP) industry, specifically within merchant acquiring, payment acceptance, or strategic partnerships. This role is responsible for driving merchant acquisition, revenue growth, partnership development, payment acceptance solutions across multiple channels, and market expansion. This is an independent contributor role involving prospecting, solution pitching, pricing, negotiation, onboarding coordination, and ongoing relationship management.Key ResponsibilitiesMerchant Acquisition and Revenue GrowthDrive end-to-end merchant acquisition, from lead generation, prospecting, pitching, negotiation, and onboarding.Identify and build a strong pipeline of merchants and partners across POS, QR, e-commerce, online and offline payments, and alternative payment methods.Deliver organisational set targets such as agreed revenue, transaction volume, merchant acquisition, and pipeline targets.Develop account strategies for high-potential SME, mid-market, enterprise, and strategic merchants.Identify opportunities to grow transaction volume and introduce additional payment or value-added solutions.Strategic PartnershipsEstablish and maintain relationships with merchants, PSPs, banks, aggregators, and payment partners.Identify partnership opportunities that strengthen distribution, acceptance coverage, and market access.Lead commercial discussions and represent the company professionally in external meetings.Maintain strong relationships throughout the client lifecycle and address commercial or service-related concerns.Solution Selling and Commercial NegotiationUnderstand prospective clients’ operating models, payment needs, pain points, and growth objectives.Present suitable payment solutions and clearly communicate their commercial and operational value.Develop sales proposals, pricing models, business cases, and commercial agreements.Lead negotiations while balancing client requirements, commercial viability, operational feasibility, risk, and compliance considerations.Merchant Onboarding and Internal CoordinationWork closely with Operations, Risk, Compliance, Product, and other internal teams to ensure smooth merchant onboarding and ongoing lifecycle management.Coordinate onboarding requirements, internal approvals, implementation timelines, and issue resolution.Escalate material risks or delivery concerns and maintain clear communication with merchants and internal stakeholders.Market Intelligence and Strategic DevelopmentMonitor and analyse market trends, competitor offerings, merchant needs, and pricing practices.Translate market insights into practical acquisition, partnership, and positioning strategies.Support the introduction of new payment channels, cross-border acquiring capabilities, and value-added services.Provide management with accurate pipeline forecasts, performance updates, and commercial recommendations.Required competencies and certificationsMinimum 5 years of proven business development, merchant acquisition, partnership, or enterprise-sales experience within a payment services provider or closely related payments business.Demonstrated track record of achieving revenue, transaction-volume, merchant-acquisition, or partnership targets.Experience engaging SMEs, mid-market businesses, enterprise merchants, banks, PSPs, aggregators, or strategic partners.Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related discipline is preferred.Advanced business development, prospecting, and opportunity-conversion skills.Strong consultative selling, presentation, influencing, and negotiation capability.Demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior commercial and operational stakeholders.Strong commercial judgement and ability to prioritise opportunities by value, fit, risk, and probability of closure.High ownership, resilience, and disciplined follow-through.Effective cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder communication.Strong working knowledge of merchant acquiring and payment-service-provider business models.Practical understanding of POS, QR, e-commerce, online and offline payment solutions, and alternative payment methods.Understanding of acquiring economics and fee structures, including MDR, interchange, and scheme fees.Familiarity with card schemes, merchant onboarding, payment acceptance, settlement, and client lifecycle processes.Ability to discuss payment integration and operational requirements with merchants and internal product or technical teams.Preferred competencies and qualificationsExisting professional network within the merchant, banking, fintech, or payment-services ecosystem.Experience in cross-border acquiring, omnichannel payments, or value-added merchant services.Strong pipeline management, forecasting, CRM, and sales-reporting discipline.Comfortable working independently within a growing and evolving start-up environment.What We OfferCompetitive remuneration with performance-based incentives.Opportunity to work within a fast-growing payments ecosystem.Exposure to regional merchants and strategic partnerships.If you’re passionate about shaping the future of the payments ecosystem and thrive in an environment that values creativity, agility, and impact, APPLY NOW to join our growing team in YeahPay Singapore!
