Coupang Pay focuses on delivering innovative payment and financial services solutions to everyone who uses the Coupang app — from customers buying products on Coupang.com, to marketplace vendors, and restaurants that offer their services via Coupang Eats. We develop solutions with our latest tech innovations to serve the growing needs of Coupang’s customers in Korea and Taiwan. This includes Coupay, an online wallet with a proprietary one-touch payment capability.

In particular, we are rapidly scaling the Wow credit card, a co-branded card that offers industry-leading rewards as part of our efforts to maximize customer values. For sellers, we are building out multiple liquidity options to help small and medium sized enterprises grow their business, using BaaS (Banking as a Service) capability.

Key Responsibilities:

Have vision and drive for the future direction of the payment system architecture and technology

Raise and hold a high bar for the engineering and product organization in delivering our payment experience to our customers

Foster a culture of one-team and drive collaboration with other tech leaders of Coupang to identify and scale our services for Coupang business growth

Be the champion of operational excellence for our payment organization

Drive the team to design and build while ensuring high scalability, reliability, and accuracy of Payment transactions, instruments, and cash credit balances

Drive team to develop systems that ensure continuous financial services while safely protecting customer data

Own communication with the stakeholders of payment product engineering systems that comply with laws and regulations

Identify and disseminate engineering best practices to the Payment organization

Basic Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in software development at technology companies

7+ years of experience in software development management and leadership at technology companies

Solid track record of delivering large and complex systems with significant business impact

Experience of leading teams designing and developing large-scale distributed systems and architectures

Broad and deep understanding of key technologies in storage, data processing, and serving

Experience and knowledge in distributed systems, microservices, and messaging services

Excellent communications and collaborations across teams and across functionalities

Experience in automating steps in software delivery life cycle and building guardrails to promote a safe deployment process

Proven track record of fostering and ensuring an operational excellence organizational culture

The ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-changing environment

Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or other related tech fields

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in software development in a fintech organization

Experience in high volume financial transaction processing

Experience in security or compliance-related system development

Strong background in cloud services (Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS/GCP/ Azure)

Experience in company-wide application of API Gateway and Service Mesh

Document Return Policy

This notification is given pursuant to Article 11 (6) of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act. A job applicant, who has applied but not been finally selected for a position at Coupang (the “Company”), may request the Company to return his/her hiring documents submitted pursuant to the Fair Hiring Procedure Act. In addition, if the hiring documents were destroyed due to a natural disaster or any other reasons not attributable to the Company, such documents will be deemed to have been returned to the job applicant. A job applicant who wishes to request the return of his/her hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above should fill out a “Request for Return of Hiring Documents” [Annex Form No. 3 in the Enforcement Rule of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act] and submit It by email ([email protected]). In such case, within fourteen (14) days from the date of identifying the receipt of the request, the Company will send the hiring documents to the job applicant’s designated address via registered mail. Please be informed that the job applicant is required to pay the postage on the registered mail. In preparation for a job applicant’s request for the return of hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above, the Company shall retain the original hiring documents submitted by the job applicant for 180 days from the completion of the recruiting process.
