People Partner (Japan, APAC, and Global) We’re looking for an experienced, strategic People Partner (Human Resources Business Partner) to support our Japan, APAC, and global teams. Joining the People Team, you will deliver strategic partnership with leadership in order to create and execute on people strategies that accelerate business objectives, and enable our teams to operate effectively with minimal friction. You will balance local expertise across Japan and the broader APAC region with a global mindset, ensuring our talent strategies are deeply integrated into the fabric of the global business. This role is based in our Tokyo office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Tuesday, Thursday and one additional day of choice, which may be determined by your team. What you’ll achieve

Drive Strategic Thought Partnership: Build and implement department-level talent strategy initiatives, driving talent planning efforts that align directly with business outcomes.

Consult and Advise: Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to functional leads and leadership teams across Japan, APAC, and globally, leading complex people situations and supporting leaders in building their own capability.

Lead Change Management: Partner with senior leaders to develop scalable change strategies and drive needed initiatives, proactively planning for contingencies and championing the Asana vision.

Navigate Ambiguity: Identify root issues and operational needs in complex situations, presenting pragmatic findings and socializing change with clarity to senior stakeholders.

Manage Cross-Functional Programs: Collaborate closely with the International People Partner Leader, global People Partners, and Centers of Excellence to lead the execution of core people programs, including onboarding, performance management, probation processes, learning and development, and employee engagement.

Leverage Data Literacy: Interpret complex people data to identify trends, translate findings into actionable decisions, and champion a data-driven culture across the organization.

Influence at Scale: Actively participate in business headcount and strategic planning forums as the essential "people voice," ensuring talent strategy is integrated into the business fabric.

About you

Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.

Strategic HR Expertise: Bring roughly 6–8 years of HR experience with a demonstrated track record as a strategic HR Business Partner or Organizational Consultant.

Deep local HR experience across Japan and the APAC region, with a particular focus on handling Japanese employee and labor relations.

Professional fluency in both Japanese and English to seamlessly support regional and global stakeholder communication.

Change Leader: Proven track record navigating large-scale organizational change, managing priorities among multiple stakeholders, and driving complex projects across functional boundaries with minimal direction.

Versatile Communicator: Equally comfortable diving into a complex spreadsheet as you are leading a "C-suite" conversation, practicing courageous influence to challenge thinking, raise standards, and build trust.

Independent Problem Solver: Proven ability to manage large, complex projects across functional and regional boundaries with minimal direction.

Collaborative Partner: Experience working with global, matrixed teams while proactively seeking partnership with HR Centers of Excellence to build holistic, data-backed recommendations.

Analytic Mindset: Naturally incorporate data and analytics into decision-making and show a strong commitment to identifying and mitigating potential biases in data.
