AI Engineer

Norges Bank Investment Management is seeking an outstanding individual to join our team as a Senior Artificial Intelligence Engineer. The role comprises the design, build, and deployment of AI systems that support the fund's mission, with the opportunity to shape how we apply artificial intelligence across investment, operations, and decision-making.Our engineers work with a large degree of autonomy, building robust, production-grade solutions in an operationally critical environment. You will help scale our capacity through AI while keeping human judgement firmly in the loop, capitalising on our unique characteristics — world-class data, a long-term horizon, and a culture of continuous learning.What you will doDesign, build, and deploy AI systems and agent-based architectures into production, with appropriate evaluation, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop controlsPartner with investment and operational teams to translate real business problems into reliable AI solutionsEnsure the robustness, scalability, and maintainability of the systems you build in a mission-critical settingStay at the forefront of AI research and tooling, and bring practical, well-judged innovation into the organisationAct as a strong ambassador for responsible and effective use of AI across the fundContribute actively to team tasks and technical discussions internallyWhat you needDeep, hands-on experience building and deploying AI/ML systems, ideally including LLM- and agent-based architecturesA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred, though not a strict requirementStrong software engineering fundamentals and experience taking systems from prototype to productionDemonstrated understanding of evaluation, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop designCommitment to continuous learning and staying current with a fast-moving fieldExcellent communication skills, enabling high-quality collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAbility to work independently with a high degree of autonomy and decision-making capacityWho you areYou are an ambitious individual with a critical and curious mindset who enjoys taking on responsibility and solving challenges without a set recipe or detailed guidance.
