About the RoleSG Epay is looking for a BusinessDevelopment & Merchant Success Manager to support the growth of our localonline merchant portfolio, merchant onboarding, payment integration, andselected payment channel coordination.This role is suitable for someone with 3–5years of experience in payments, fintech, merchant acquiring, PSPs, paymentgateways, e-commerce, or B2B merchant services. The role is not a pure salesrole. The candidate will need to understand merchant requirements, pricing,onboarding, payment integration, risk issues, and internal projectcoordination.Our business focus is mainly on onlinemerchants. The candidate should be comfortable working with local Singaporemerchants, payment partners, acquiring channels, and internal teams inSingapore and China. Strong spoken Chinese is required, as the role involvesfrequent communication with China-based management, technical, operations, andsupport teams.Key Responsibilities1. Local Online Merchant DevelopmentIdentify, approach, and develop local Singapore online merchants.Understand merchants’ business models, payment needs, transaction volume, target markets, pricing expectations, settlement requirements, and technical requirements.Focus mainly on online merchants, including e-commerce, online services, SaaS, ticketing, digital platforms, education platforms, and other suitable online businesses.Support commercial discussions with merchants, including pricing, payment methods, settlement cycle, reserve requirements, and onboarding timeline.Maintain good relationships with merchants before and after onboarding.2. Merchant Onboarding and ProjectCoordinationCoordinate merchant onboarding from initial discussion to go-live.Collect and review merchant documents, including company information, business description, website, product details, refund policy, transaction volume forecast, and supporting documents.Work with compliance, operations, risk, and technical teams to complete merchant review and onboarding.Coordinate API integration, test account setup, UAT, technical documentation, callback settings, and go-live support.Track merchant onboarding status, pending items, blockers, and next steps.Prepare clear internal updates and reports for management.3. Merchant Success and AccountManagementAct as the main contact point for selected local merchants.Understand merchant feedback and coordinate internal support where needed.Follow up on transaction issues, settlement questions, refund issues, technical issues, and payment performance.Help merchants understand SG Epay’s onboarding, reserve, settlement, and risk requirements.Escalate merchant risk issues, complaints, chargebacks, abnormal transactions, or operational concerns to management in a timely manner.4. Payment Channel and AcquirerCoordinationSupport management and operations team in coordinating with payment channels, acquirers, PSPs, gateways, banks, and payment partners.Depending on the candidate’s experience and capability, take responsibility for selected payment channel relationships in parallel with the operations team.Assist with channel-related projects, including new MID setup, merchant submission, commercial discussion support, compliance coordination, and technical integration.Follow up with payment partners on channel onboarding, merchant approval, technical testing, settlement arrangements, transaction issues, and operational matters.Work with the operations team to understand and follow up on channel-related data, including chargeback reports, fraud monitoring data, TC40 / TC15 reports, RDR / Ethoca status, and Visa/Mastercard risk-related information.Coordinate with internal teams in Singapore and China to ensure payment channel and merchant projects move forward smoothly.Translate business requirements into clear action items for technical and operations teams.Prepare regular progress updates for Singapore management and China headquarters.5. Payment Risk AwarenessMaintain basic awareness of payment risk issues, including chargebacks, fraud, merchant category risk, refund disputes, rolling reserve, settlement risk, and scheme monitoring.Understand that certain merchant categories may require security deposit, rolling reserve, or additional risk controls.Coordinate with internal teams when merchants have chargebacks, refund disputes, or risk-related issues.Support the company’s focus on building a healthy local online merchant portfolio to balance cross-border transaction exposure.Develop familiarity with Visa/Mastercard acquiring and monitoring concepts, including chargeback ratios, fraud ratios, VAMP-related monitoring, and other scheme risk indicators.Requirements3–5 years of experience in business development, merchant acquisition, account management, fintech, payments, banking, PSP, payment gateway, or e-commerce-related services.Experience dealing with merchants, payment companies, acquirers, banks, gateways, or fintech partners is preferred.Good understanding of online merchant business models and payment acceptance.Basic understanding of merchant onboarding, KYC/KYB, payment integration, settlement, refunds, chargebacks, and rolling reserve.Strong communication and follow-up skills.Able to manage multiple merchant and payment projects at the same time.Able to coordinate with external merchants and internal compliance, operations, risk, and technical teams.Fluent spoken Chinese is required, as the role involves frequent communication with China-based management, technical, operations, and support teams.Good written and spoken English is required for communication with local merchants, payment partners, acquirers, and internal stakeholders.Proactive, outgoing, commercially minded, and detail-oriented.Able to prepare clear meeting notes, project trackers, merchant updates, and management reports.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in a payment company, PSP, acquirer, payment gateway, fintech company, bank merchant acquiring team, or e-commerce platform.Experience with online merchant onboarding and payment integration.Familiarity with Visa/Mastercard acquiring, chargebacks, fraud monitoring, rolling reserve, RDR, Ethoca, TC40 / TC15, or similar payment risk concepts.Experience working with China-based technical or operations teams.Existing network with local Singapore online merchants, e-commerce businesses, platforms, or payment partners.Ability to support selected acquirer or payment channel relationships independently after onboarding and training.Key AttributesStrong business development ability, but not purely sales-driven.Able to understand both commercial and operational details.Comfortable coordinating across merchants, payment channels, compliance, operations, and technical teams.Strong ownership and follow-up discipline.Sensitive to payment risk and merchant quality.Able to communicate effectively in both Chinese and English.Able to work independently in a fast-moving payment environment.Role ObjectiveThe objective of this role is to help SGEpay grow a higher-quality local online merchant portfolio, support merchantonboarding and payment integration, and coordinate internal and externalstakeholders to ensure merchants can go live smoothly and operate withmanageable risk.This role will also support selectedpayment channel and acquirer coordination where required, working in parallelwith the operations team. The primary focus remains local online merchantbusiness development, merchant onboarding, merchant success, and paymentproject coordination.
