Server Operations Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Server Operations Engineer to support data center server deployment, operating system installation, and infrastructure operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with server provisioning, Linux system administration, bare-metal troubleshooting, and network diagnostics. This role involves ensuring newly deployed servers are production-ready, resolving hardware and software issues, supporting large-scale OS deployments, and collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and manufacturers to maintain high service availability.Job DescriptionPerform operating system installation, reinstallation, and recovery for newly deployed and existing bare-metal servers.Support server provisioning and post-installation validation to ensure production readiness.Troubleshoot Linux operating system, boot, storage, RAID, kernel, driver, and service-related issues.Assist with large-scale remote operating system deployments using PXE boot and provisioning tools.Conduct hardware and system health validation, including disk recognition, network connectivity, management interface access, and overall server functionality.Diagnose and resolve server network issues involving TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, DNS, and IPv4/IPv6 connectivity.Utilize out-of-band management tools such as IPMI to monitor server health, access remote consoles, perform power operations, and assist with system recovery.Coordinate hardware break-fix activities, track repair progress, and follow up with vendors and manufacturers.Investigate server abnormalities, batch deployment failures, and recurring hardware or software issues with cross-functional teams.Manage RMA processes, hardware replacement coordination, and media destruction activities when required.Participate in on-call support and respond promptly to operational incidents and stakeholder requests.Execute Bash Shell and Python scripts while supporting basic automation initiatives using tools such as Ansible.Maintain accurate asset inventories, ticket records, rack information, technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.Job RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Experience in server provisioning, OS installation, and bare-metal server support.Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.Knowledge of PXE boot, TCP/IP networking, VLANs, DNS, and IPv4/IPv6.Familiarity with IPMI or other out-of-band server management tools.Basic scripting skills in Bash or Python; experience with Ansible is an advantage.Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.Willingness to participate in on-call support when required.About Centific Centific is a frontier AI data foundry that curates diverse, high-quality data, using our purpose-built technology platforms to empower the Magnificent Seven and our enterprise clients with safe, scalable AI deployment.
