About the Role We are looking for a highly analytical and execution-driven Risk Operations Lead to strengthen Bybit’s Card and Payments business.
This role sits at the intersection of fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, and chargeback management, with full ownership of risk control across the card payment lifecycle — from authorization to settlement and dispute resolution. You will play a key role in protecting revenue, optimizing approval rates, and ensuring compliance with global card network standards, while building scalable risk frameworks to support business growth.
What You’ll Do 1. Card Risk Review & Operations
Review and assess high-risk card transactions (e.g., suspicious payments, abnormal behavior, account/card misuse)
Evaluate user submissions (KYC/KYB, transaction justification, source of funds) for flagged cases
Optimize review workflows to improve approval accuracy, reduce false positives, and enhance operational efficiency
Partner with Product and Engineering to improve risk tooling and automation
2. Fraud Analysis & Risk Detection
Investigate and analyze fraud cases across card payments, including:
Card-not-present (CNP) fraud
Account takeover (ATO)
Transaction laundering / merchant abuse
Refund and friendly fraud
Reconstruct fraud attack chains across the payment lifecycle
Identify emerging fraud patterns and define mitigation strategies
3. Transaction Monitoring & Risk Strategy
Monitor real-time and post-transaction risk signals across card payments
Track and optimize key metrics: approval rate, fraud rate, false positives, and operational efficiency
Design and iterate risk rules, scoring logic, and detection strategies
Build early-warning systems to proactively detect fraud trends
4. Chargeback & Dispute Management
Own end-to-end chargeback and dispute operations across card transactions
Monitor and manage key KPIs: chargeback ratio, win rate, dispute aging, and recovery rate
Analyze root causes of disputes (fraud, friendly fraud, authorization gaps, user behavior) and implement preventive measures
Optimize representment strategies and documentation to improve dispute win rates
Partner with card networks such as Visa and Mastercard, issuing banks, and payment processors to ensure compliance and operational alignment
5. Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and Business teams to embed risk controls into card products and user flows
Support risk readiness for new product launches, payment features, and market expansion
Act as a key stakeholder in balancing risk control vs. user experience vs. business growth
What We’re Looking For Experience
3+ years in card payments risk, fraud operations, or chargeback/dispute management within fintech, payments, or banking
Hands-on experience with card transaction lifecycle (authorization → settlement → dispute)
Strong understanding of chargeback workflows, representment, and dispute lifecycle management
Familiarity with card network ecosystems (e.g., Visa, Mastercard) is highly preferred
Technical Skills
Proficiency in SQL, Hive, Excel, or other data analysis tools
Experience with fraud detection systems, rule engines, or transaction monitoring tools
Risk & Fraud Expertise
Deep understanding of card fraud typologies (CNP fraud, ATO, friendly fraud, chargeback abuse)
Strong ability to identify fraud signals, optimize rules, and improve detection strategies
Mindset
Data-driven and detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking
High ownership and ability to operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Passion for payments, fraud prevention, and continuous learning
