OverviewThe Freight Management IT Product Manager is responsible for the vision, strategy, delivery, and continuous improvement of freight technology products that support ST Logistics' freight forwarding and transportation operations.The role sits at the intersection of business operations, digital transformation, data analytics, and technology delivery. Working closely with Freight Operations, Customer Service, Finance, Sales, and Technology teams, the Product Manager will drive the modernization of freight platforms, automate operational processes, improve shipment visibility, and enhance customer experience through data, AI, and emerging technologies.The incumbent will own the end-to-end product lifecycle of freight-related solutions including Freight Forwarding Systems, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Track & Trace platforms, Customer Portals, Customs Integration, Freight Billing, API Ecosystems, Analytics, and AI-enabled automation capabilities. The role is accountable for translating business objectives into scalable product roadmaps while ensuring operational efficiency, system reliability, cybersecurity compliance, and measurable business outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Architecture & Roadmap: Design and maintain comprehensive system architecture diagrams for the freight ecosystem. Define the technical roadmap, aligning engineering initiatives with long-term business goals like scalability and digital transformation.Systems Design & Documentation: Translate business requirements into comprehensive system narratives and technical design specifications. You will provide developers and vendors with detailed blueprints, including database schema designs (tables, columns, data types), UI/UX mockups, mapping logic, validation/error-handling rules, and audit logging frameworks.Data Visualization & Analytics: Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and automated reports to provide logistics stakeholders with real-time visibility into freight performance, operational bottlenecks, and financial KPIs.AI & Automation Engineering: Take full responsibility for the AI lifecycle, including the independent design, build, and production deployment of intelligent agents to automate manual freight processes.Strategic Prioritization: Use data-driven scoring systems (e.g., RICE or WSJF) to prioritize the team's workload and balance new features against maintenance, security, and stability requirements.Stakeholder Alignment: Bridge the gap between freight operations and engineering by deconstructing complex needs (e.g., customs compliance, real-time tracking) into actionable user stories and technical specs.KPI Management: Define and track critical technical and business KPIs (e.g., system uptime, API response times). Conduct post-implementation audits to measure operational improvements.Vendor & Ecosystem Management: Oversee integration with 3rd-party logistics platforms, ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and freight vendors, managing technical relationships and SLAs.Technical & Operational RequirementsTechnical Design: Expert-level ability to translate business needs into logical/physical data models and detailed functional specifications for developers.Integrations: Hands-on experience architecting/managing integrations using RESTful APIs, SOAP, webhooks, and EDI standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT).Data Proficiency: Strong proficiency in SQL for querying complex relational databases.Business Intelligence: Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and report development to translate complex logistics data into executive-level insights.Cloud & Infrastructure: Working knowledge of cloud-native environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).API Lifecycle: Experience managing the full API lifecycle, including documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI), versioning, and monitoring.Regulatory & Compliance: Experience integrating systems with customs platforms (e.g., TradeNet) and ensuring adherence to data privacy standards (GDPR, PDPA).Logistics Domain: Deep understanding of the cargo lifecycle, including multi-modal routing and freight audit/payment workflows.Automation Engineering: Proven track record of building complex automated workflows using both n8n and Microsoft Power Platform to handle logistics exceptions and reduce manual operations.AI Agent Development: Experience building and deploying autonomous agents, including local LLM integration (Ollama, Qwen, etc) and prompt engineering to automate complex freight tasks.Strategic & Soft SkillsChange Management: Ability to lead technical transitions, including staff training, system migrations, and "go-live" support.Vendor Strategy: Capability to execute RFP/RFI processes for selecting vendors, focusing on technical flexibility and long-term supportability.Agile Proficiency: High level of expertise in Jira/Confluence for managing backlogs and cross-team dependencies.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.Experience: 5–10 years in product management, with at least 3 years in a technical role within logistics or freight forwarding.Preferred: Past experience as a software developer/data engineer, or industry certifications (PMP, CSPO, CSCP).By submitting your application for this position, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal data by ST Logistics and its recruitment partners, including Employment and Employability Institute Pte Ltd, for the purpose of i) employment facilitation and ii) data and statistical analysis.
