We work closely with clients to enhance service delivery, improve operational efficiency, build organisational capabilities, and harness digital technologies to better serve their communities.We welcome driven, motivated, and passionate individuals to join our close-knit team and contribute to meaningful work that makes a difference.ResponsibilitiesThe Academic Library Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational management of the academic library to support the institution's teaching, learning, and research objectives. The role oversees library operations, staff, budgets, collections, policies, technology, and customer services while ensuring the library remains an inclusive, resource-rich, and user-focused environment. The manager collaborates closely with faculty, students, and institutional stakeholders to ensure library services and resources align with the academic needs and strategic goals of the institution.You will cover the areas below: Budgeting and Financial Management : Responsible for managing the library's budget, allocating funds for different collections, and ensuring that the library operates within its financial constraints and in line with procurement guidelines.Staff Management : Responsible for supervising library staff, and providing them with opportunities for development as and when available.Collection Development : Oversee the selection and acquisition of books, journals, electronic resources and other materials for the library's collections. You will work closely with academic departments to ensure that the library's collections support the academic needs of the institution.Policy and Procedure Development : Oversee development and implementation of policies and procedures for library services, such as circulation, reference, and interlibrary loan services.Customer Service : Responsible for ensuring that the library provides excellent customer service to its patrons, including students, faculty, and staff.Programming and Outreach : Responsible for overseeing the development of a programming strategy and implementing outreach programs to engage library users to increase the usage of resources and facilities.Reference and Research Services : Oversee the library's reference and research services meets the learning needs of the users.Technology Management : Responsible for ensuring the library's technology resources, including the library's online catalogue, digital resources, and other technology tools used by the library staff and patrons are working efficiently.Requirements A recognised degree in Library and Information Science or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in library management.Knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in academic libraries. Knowledge of collection development and electronic resource management. Knowledge of emerging Generative AI (GenAI) technologies and their impact on academic libraries, teaching, learning, research, and knowledge discovery.Understanding of copyright, licensing, and electronic resource compliance. Strong leadership, supervisory, and people management skills. Experience in budget planning, financial management, and procurement processes. Experience managing library systems, discovery tools, and digital resources. Ability to manage vendor relationships and library technology systems. Ability to develop and implement library policies, procedures, and strategic plans. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
