We’re looking for candidates who are keen in learning semiconductor manufacturing domain knowledge, are passionate in creating innovative software/system solutions to shape our manufacturing to produce better product, improve productivity, improve energy efficiency to reduce environmental impact and more.As a Software Development Engineer at Micron you will configure, develop, maintain and support Micron and third-party applications. You will create and analyze software specifications, research, design, develop, document, modify, and support software throughout the development life cycle. You can demonstrate the functional and technical skills necessary to switch between development technologies and merge them to deliver the best solution. You have a proven ability to create quality software and participate in quality improvement efforts. You will provide solutions that create business value while at the same time minimizing negative impact through defects, downtime, or performance degradationWe value engineers who are curious about practical AI adoption and can leverage company-approved AI tools to work smarter, speed up analysis, development, testing, and documentation—while applying sound judgment to validate outputs and ensuring compliance with data security and confidentiality requirements.Responsibilities include, but not limited to:Leverage company-approved AI-assisted tools to maximize productivity and quality (e.g., accelerate requirements analysis, solution design, development, test creation, documentation, and troubleshooting), while applying engineering judgment to validate outputs and following company security, data-handling, and coding standardsProvide IT solutions to solve semiconductor manufacturing business problemsParticipate application lifecycle management (plan, development, test, deploy & maintain) for software systems in a highly automated semiconductor manufacturing environmentEngage in user requirements collection, discussion and analysisApply software development best practices to write clear and quality code, involve in code review, software quality assurance testing, continuous integration and deliveryPlan and coordinate worldwide software releases, provide user and operational training, and support user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure a good & smooth software release to productionEnable system performance monitoring to identify abnormalities proactively and develop capabilities to prevent unexpected system failuresPerform scheduled applications software and hardware maintenance to ensure high up timeProvide continuous software operational support such as system recovery, bug fixes, and feature enhancementsIntegrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.Minimum Required Qualifications/ExperienceMinimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent, with 3–5 years of software development experienceKnowledge of programming languages such as C#, C++, SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript, and AngularKnowledge of Docker / Pod / ContainerKnowledge of big data engineering technologies such as NiFi, Kafka, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)Experience with Claude Code, Github CoPilot, etc for building enterprise agents.Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and tool or function calling for agent integrations.Must Have Soft Skills and Working RequirementsAI mindset: Forward-thinking and proactive in leveraging approved AI tools to improve productivity and business processesInnovation & problem-solving: Innovative and enthusiastic about developing IT solutions to address complex business challengesCommunication: Good interpersonal and communication skillsCollaboration: Able to work effectively within a dynamic team to achieve shared goalsOperational support: Able to provide 24/7 standby operational support on a rotational basis for L3 SupportWork environment: Able to work in a clean-room environment as requiredAdvantageous: Good software project management skills and exposure to Agile development methodologyHighly Desirable/Preferred skills or experienceExposure to manufacturing or semiconductor data (e.g., time-series, sensor, defect images, MES) and to computer vision or predictive modeling in a smart manufacturing setting.Experience with multi-agent systems.
