Role SummaryThe Data Analyst is responsible for transforming data into actionable insights that support business decision-making. The role requires strong business context understanding, stakeholder engagement, analytical thinking, and data visualisation expertise to communicate insights effectively.Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis & InsightsDevelop a deep understanding of business processes, operational challenges, and policy objectives.Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into analytical requirements.Analyse datasets to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance indicators.Provide recommendations and insights that support data-driven decision-making.Analytics & Data VisualisationBuild, enhance, and maintain dashboards for performance reporting, operational monitoring, and user behaviour analytics.Design intuitive and impactful visualisations that effectively communicate complex findings to business users.Apply data storytelling techniques to present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.Define and track business metrics Data Preparation & AnalysisQuery, clean, and analyse data using SQL, Python, and Databricks.Validate and interpret data to ensure analytical outputs are accurate and meaningful.Collaborate with data engineers to improve data accessibility and usability for reporting purposes.Documentation & Knowledge ManagementDevelop user guides and business documentation for dashboards, reports, and analytical products.Maintain documentation on reporting methodologies, metric definitions, and analytical standards.Support agile delivery activities such as requirements gathering, user story creation, and acceptance testing.Explore automation opportunities to improve reporting and analytics workflows.Competencies & RequirementsTechnical SkillsProficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis.Hands-on experience with dashboard and visualisation tools (e.g. Databricks, Power BI).Experience using Databricks or similar analytics platforms.Ability to create compelling visualisations and data stories for diverse audiences.Strong documentation and report-writing capabilities.Preferred SkillsUnderstanding of business intelligence and KPI frameworks.Familiarity with Jira, QA testing, and agile delivery practices.Soft SkillsStrong business acumen and ability to understand operational and policy contexts.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Ability to translate technical findings into meaningful business insights.Strong analytical mindset, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities.Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.
